There are many origins in the introduction of the veil in contemporary oriental dance. In the late nineteenth and twentieth century PROMPTED the belle époque there were numerous photographers who portrayed women dancing with what appear shawls and scarves.
There was a veiled form of dance during this period in North Africa. Not the kind of dance with a veil that would be much later in oriental dance theaters and their use was not like we can now see at the dance.
The veil dance as we know it emerged in 1940. A Russian ballerina and ballet teacher, was hired by King Farouk of Egypt to teach their daughters. His name was Ivanova, and in the '40s taught Samia Gamal (who introduced the dance with a veil on Egypt) as wearing the veil to the entrance of the dance and Manéjalo arms.
Samia Gamal became popular dance of the veil in Egyptian theaters and movies. And this is how the dancers made oriental dance with veil work in their repertoire..
